The 3rd edition of the Energy Career Seminars, organized by the Energy Quest Foundation of Cubica Energy, took place on Saturday, October 27, 2023. The event was held at the main auditorium of the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in East Legon, Accra. The theme of the seminar was “ENERGY INNOVATIONS & EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES – find your place.” This insightful event was conducted in collaboration with CEIBS Africa and Leadafrique International.
The seminar commenced with an opening prayer by Richard Gyan, Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, followed by a warm welcome address from Prof Mathew Tsamenyi, the Executive Director of CEIBS Africa. Michael Ohene-Effah, Co-Founder of LeadAfrique International, delivered an engaging opening address, focusing on three key guides for participants to discover their place within the energy industry: Mindset, Mechanism, and Mentorship.
During her address, Lesley Arthur, the CEO of Cubica Energy and founder of the Energy Quest Foundation, emphasized the importance of continuous learning, improvement, and the establishment of a valuable network. She called upon like-minded companies and individuals to support this worthy initiative, as well as other projects of the Energy Quest Foundation, which aim to impact youth and, particularly, females in their career development. With the support received, the seminar will continue to be free for all participants, including students and young professionals, in the coming years, with the vision of accommodating thousands more.
The panelists included Peter Egyin-Mensah, CEO of Ijanu, a pioneering E-mobility Company; Daniel Akuamoah Boateng, an Oil and Gas industry leader from Baker Hughes; and Amin Sulley, an enterprising innovator in renewable energy, specifically charcoal. The discussions centered around the vast opportunities in the energy sector, with a focus on innovations, sustainable energy, and emerging technologies. Lesley Arthur, the CEO of Cubica Energy, shared invaluable wisdom during the panel discussions, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between followership and leadership.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Riverson Oppong encapsulated the essence of the day, encouraging participants to embrace attributes such as seeking knowledge, respecting all, and maintaining unwavering perseverance.
The seminar concluded with impactful one-on-one career counseling sessions for participants, conducted by Leadafrique International. Additionally, a networking lunch provided an opportunity for students, young professionals, industry leaders, special guests, and mentors to connect and exchange ideas.
The event was a remarkable success, achieving its purpose of making a significant impact on the careers of young professionals and students.
